The world's biggest power cut causes chaos in India as 600 million swelter in blackout
India's energy crisis spread today when both its eastern and northern electricity grids collapsed, leaving half the country without power. Huge traffic jams, pictured, built up the capital Delhi as traffic signals were not functioning. Hundreds of miners were trapped underground in the eastern state of West Bengal when the lifts failed, metro services were stopped temporarily in the capital and hundreds of trains were held up nationwide.
